Starting Solids
A few weeks ago we started Breecia on solids.... well we are still trying!! We started with applesauce. She gagged and made the most horrible faces. It was so hilarious! We tried it a few more days with a little bit of luck each day, but she didn't love it. Next to bananas... she loved those bananas! So I was getting a little more optomistic about it. I decided I would feed her one thing for 3-4 days so I would know if she was allergic before I switched to something else. On the menu next.... sweet potatoes. I am not a sweet potato fan but Brady loves them so I was curious as to if Breecia would like them or not. The first bite.... once again, she gagged and made faces and she ate a few tablespoons. The next few days she loved them! She opened her mouth ready for more and more. I adventured to try avacadoes the next few days and we aren't having much luck with avacadoes. It might take a little while for her to get use to them since they have a distinct taste and aren't as sweet as the other things we have tried. So wish me luck as we continue on our journey to new foods!

Bree's First Easter

Easter! What a beautiful joyous time of the year! A time to celebrate the One who gives us life and gave His life for us!
Mom and Dad came down to our house to celebrate Easter. Nana, Gramps, Nanna, Pop, Bobby, Cora, Mikaella, Nikolas, Brady, Breecia and I all went to the Dallas Arboretum for our Easter gathering. We all brought food to have a picnic. It drizzled and rained the whole way there. Brady and I questioned what we were going to do with the weather looking so dreary. It let up when we arrived and we all enjoyed our picnic lunch of roasted chicken, ham, beans, potato salad, bread, and dessert. Just as we all finished eating it started raining again. Everyone grabbed all of our belongings and went underneath an awning and spread out the picnic blanket and we camped out there for a while until it quit raining. After about 30-40 minutes, the weather improved. The flowers, mostly tulips, were so amazing! They were every color imaginable to the point they looked fake!! Gosh, they were beautiful! We got a few pictures with Breecia in the tulips... as much as she would cooperate :) We all had a really good time.

Really???? 5 months already??

5 Months Already???

5 months ago today was the most painful yet blessed day of my life.... Little Miss Breecia entered this world. :) How time passes so quickly. I can't count how many times someone has said " Enjoy her while you can. It wont be long and she will be all grown up!" Ya know, I believed them, but I really had no idea that it would be this quickly.
A few minutes ago, Breecia was laying on her back on her Little Einstein mat and playing with the little spider that dangles down. I glance up at her and she had rolled onto her side. I watch her for a few more seconds and she rolls on over to her tummy!!! Rolled her back over and she did it again! She was just as surprised as I was. Our Lil Miss Rollie Poly!
Everytime she turns a month older, she reaches a new milestone. The day she turned 4 months old, she rolled over tummy to back. Now this on her 5 month. I wonder what 6 months will have in store? Crawling? Sitting up on her own? February 28th we will know!!

 The Beginning

Wow! I can't believe I am just now creating a blog... better late than never! Well life is good! Breecia is such an unbelievable little person. She is a such a miracle. Although she was due on August 20, she didn't arrive in this world until August 28 after a rough journey. 31 hours of labor! No typo..... 31 hours!

I actually went into labor on August 26 around 6:30 p.m. after my water broke. We arrived at Inanna Birthing Center(IBC) about 7:15 dilated to a 3. I bounced on the exercise ball, and Brady and I walked around the walking trail across the street at TWU. Cora my sister-in-law, an experienced natural birth mother, arrived at IBC about 7 P.M. to help us out in any way possible. Brady's parents arrived a little after 8 and mine around 10. Lots of support from family, what a God send! I would alternate between resting in the birthing center and walking. Mom and Dad walked with Brady and I after they arrived. By this time, my contractions were between 2-3 minutes apart and were pretty strong. Around midnight, I had dilated to a 5. My progess was great. We were thinking by around 10 a.m. on the 27th we would have a little girl in our arms. What little did we know!! By 6 a.m I had only dilated to a 6. The contractions were really intense by then. Having a natural birth, I had only distractors of using my senses to take my mind off the pain. I was having a lot of back labor and during the contractions pressure and hot packs had to be placed on my back. Around noon I was only dilated to a 7. Progession had slowed down. Contractions were now somewhere between 7-8 minutes apart. Breecia's heartbeat was still good. I got into the birthing tub to try to help ease the contractions but it didn't seem to help at all. I still wasn't dilating any more. I needed to keep moving to try to help. Breecia was far down in the birthing canal but something was going on. We all went outside so I could have complete movement.... walking and doing lunges! Anything to try to help me progress. After about 30 minutes outside we all went back in and to our dismay the lunges did not help. Nothing was working. Around 2:30 on August 27, I was transferred to Denton Presbyterian Hospital. By this time the contractions were very strong. We arrived and got checked into the hospital. After my blood test, I had to receive some fluids because of dehydration. I was beyond the point of exhaustion and I didn't think I would be able to take contraction upon contraction with the state I was in. After thought and discussion, we decided it would probably be best to get an epidural, although it was something we did not want for Breecia's birth. We thought it would be best under the circumstances. After receiving fluids for dehydration, the pitocin drip was started and I received my epidural around 6 p.m. It felt like heaven to not feel that wrenching pain that I had felt for the last 18 hours. At 8 p.m. I had only reached an 8. By 10 p.m. only a 9. At that point I tried pushing and as I had a contraction Breecia's heartrate dropped. The doctor suggested that a C-section was our next move as the umbilical cord seemed to be up around Breecia's head. I was prepped for surgery and Brady dressed in his surgery attire. At 1 a.m, August 28, I was rolled into the operating room. At 1:48 a.m. our little blessing arrived. My mom and dad stayed with me and Bree for two weeks after we came home from the hospital.  What a blessing it was!! There help was so much appreciated!

You would think being a stay at home mom I would have all kinds of time to do things such as update my blog.... well not true. I am lucky to take a shower, do a load of laundry, or vacuum. Don't get me wrong.... I wouldn't trade being at home with Breecia for the world, but it keeps me busy and worn out!
Breecia has changed so much over the past few months. She is now 7 1/2 months old and has brought so much joy to our lives. She has had a lot of firsts lately. Back in March she made her first trip to Austin, stayed in her first hotel, and went to her first state basketball tournament (first out of the womb anyways)! We were really worried about taking her to all the basketball games, all the people, and all the noise. We had planned on not being able to go to many sessions or having to leave early. Boy did she surprise us! She was the best little girl! She slept through more games than being awake! When she was awake she would watch the games and all the people. We were so pleased with her. It was a great trip all the other years as well but she make it extra special.
A few weeks later was Brady's spring break so we made a few trips out of town. We went to Montague and stayed the night with Brady's parents, Breecia's first time to stay there. We went to Nocona to visit his Nannie and Papa while we were there too. We then traveled to Oklahoma to see my family. We stayed with my parents for a few nights and then traveled to Tuttle to visit my niece and nephew to be, Krissy and Randy. Snow was in the forecast but we made the trip anyway. Krissy and I went to get a much needed massage.... Geez, I was sore for a few days, but it was wonderful! Brady kept Breecia for the first time by himself while we were gone... and everything went well! Yay for Daddy!! :) We all went to eat at the Rib Crib. We ended up not being able to stay the night because they were forecasting "Blizzard Conditions and up to 12 inches of snow!" I was afraid to travel back home the next day with Breecia just in case roads were bad. So we went back to Wynnewood to Mom and Dad's late that night. And of course, only a little snow fell and the roads weren't bad! Go Figure! At least we got to spend some time with Krissy and Randy! We stayed the next few days with Mom and Dad then had to journey back home for Brady to get ready to head back to work :(
